"I know I should respect other people's beliefs..."
You don't have to respect beliefs. You can respect persons but ideas are abstractions.
last year my daughter had her first birthday and all my wife's family and friends were there.
my family didn't attend.
my mother and sister still believe in the jw teachings even though they are both considered inactive.

in this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.
source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.
is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.
SecretSlaveClass & GrreatTeacher, did you notice the firearms that the right wingers had? How many assault rifles did the left bring?
i remember once asking how the planet could possibly accommodate all the people who have ever lived?
after the resurrection i mean.
the answer i was told is that the gb had calculated that all the people who have ever lived could all fit on to the isle of wight?!.
Bungi Bill:
"I can remember once reading a Plain Truth magazine, in which the author (presumably H.W. Armstrong) made the claim that there are large bodies of water trapped in the ground beneath all the world's deserts - and thereby inferring that irrigation should not be much of a difficulty."
He's right, those deserts have a huge amount of water in their aquifers:
when i first learn ttatt i started telling every one.
ttatt will not help him, it will destroy him.
all his family are jws.
From my experience I'd say that you need a combination of integrity and curiosity. Integrity is first and foremost and curiosity follows.
Without integrity you'll be likely to stay in no matter how curious.
Without curiosity but with integrity you may stay in for a while but your integrity will eventually catch up for some reason and you'll be out.
yep, he told her that he wants to go a friends b-day...keep in mind it's not until december.

you see ive started dating this girl and her family is of strong jehova belief.
now i am not i do see certain things in there studie that is true in my opinion but ive never really been a religion type of person.
i think i want to marry her but i am not a jehovas witness and am not looking to be anytime at all she says that is ok and we can still get married but i dont know how its possible or where we would even do it please i need advice
Welcome justthenorm. Sorry if this seems harsh but my recommendation is that you stay away from her unless she drops out of the religion entirely. Even if she were to do that there is always the chance that she might leave for a period of time but then go back to it. You do not want to be married to a JW regardless of how you feel about her.
If you're still going to pursue her then learn as much as you can about the religion. That could take a few months but it's definitely worthwhile and helpful.
hey i was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to keep my brain occupied while i'm at an assembly tommorow.
maybe besides tallying the number of times they say jehovah and jesus or counting how many people are wearing red.
i want to keep myself from going insane or having some kind of panic attack lol.
if it has not already been done, i would like to introduce a new topic.
for me, i would like to know the whereabouts and what's up with some of my former friends and acquaintances.
to start: some folks i used to be close to at cape cod mass: bob and pam fragosa , dick and valerie davis, charles harutunian (sic).
